Voice of Management
On a global scale our industry has been under tremendous pressure for the past few years in bringing down operating costs, in the light of the global economic meltdown.  For the past few years companies’ focus was primarily on bringing down the inventory levels and reducing capital costs.  Now, as most economies are experiencing an upward trend in terms of growth, logistics function will be instrumental in improving the quality of services, improving customer service, getting products or services to the market faster.

Overall, 2011 will see more companies leveraging India’s opportunity, thus focusing on their core competencies and outsourcing their logistics activities to players providing integrated solutions, where Jeena would be actively participating through our Logistics and Freight Division.

The company presents an interesting mix of old and new talents in serving the industry.  The mantra is not merely to create new growth drivers but to do old things in new ways; combo of an experienced pool combining the experience and youthful exuberance.

In this scenario, for the year 2011-2012 Jeena would look at a growth rate of 30% over last year.

Regards.
Cyrus Katgara

Numero Uno Pillars of Strength

As per IATA ranking for 2010, Jeena is once again the Number One National Forwarder and third internationally, next only to DHL and UTI.

Jeena was also the first Clearing Agent in Mumbai to have successfully uploaded and cleared shipment on the very first day of migrating to the new Version 1.5 implemented by Customs. Kudos to Kamlakant Bodke and his incredible team for this achievement.

When the world and its cousins were dancing away on New Year’s Eve, Kamalakant Bodke, Krishna Poojary and Meraj Shaikh, of our Jeena Mumbai office went beyond the call of duty and stayed through the night of 31st December at the Air Cargo Complex, to ensure that the shipments that entered the cargo complex were cleared. Well done boys!

Congratulations & all the very best in your new assignment!

In our Defence

Jeena Ahmedabad handled two Defence shipments for the Indian Airforce who invited tenders from five aircraft manufacturing companies to demonstrate their Basic Trainer Aircraft at Jamnagar. On completion of the jobs, the same were re-exported and it was for the first time in the history of Ahmedabad airport that any shipment got custom clearance and moved via Mumbai sea port under special permission.

Needless to say, the jobs were completed in record time much to the delight of our customers.

Mr. Puroorava Patel, Branch Manager – Gujarat was personally present during the entire operations to assist his team.

7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Fame

Our friend Mr. Kuniomi Honda has sent his personal Japanese secret for a long life which we would like to share with all our readers.

1. Get up earliest as possible in every morning
2. Sound deep sleeping regardless how long sleeping hours

4. Eating 70 % of the whole meals, not 100%.
5. Working means Japanese description for "moving for people". Working means not moving for
yourself, but for someone else. (for wife or husband, children, colleagues, etc.)
6. Carrying over your worries up until tomorrow. (What happened already to you can not help you before you faced to worries.)

Thank you Kuniomi san! Wish you a long, happy and healthy life.

Red stilettos,
Getting out of a limo,
Walking down the red carpet,
“Fashionably late” for the show.

But the truth we cannot see,
Is that behind the glamour of a celebrity,
Their personal lives splashed across Page 3
They have no privacy.

With all the fame and success,
Comes a lot of stress,
They resort to drugs and alcohol,
The media makes them lose it all,
And then they face the downfall.

Millions they pay for plastic surgery,
Just to be approved of by the paparazzi
Fame and success they crave,
But do they know they are digging their own grave?

Santa Comes to Town
In homage to and in memory of all the innocent civilians who lost their lives and our brave men in uniform who died defending Mumbai on that Black Wednesday in the terrorist attacks in 2008, all Jeena Offices observed a two minutes silence on 26th November. A short documentary was screened on the occasion and a flex panel was put up for people to sign Mr. Newton Michael, Country Head - HR donned a different suit and played Santa Claus at Jeena Bangalore bringing with him cakes, gifts and chocolates for all.
We salute your sacrifice
Santa with his not so tiny Elves - Mr. Khushrow Major, Chief Operation Officer - Seafreight and Mr. Ramesh Mehra, Chief Marketing Officer.

It’s Playtime, Folks

Letting their hair down and throwing worries to the wind, the staff of Mumbai offices had a gala time at the annual picnic at Pali Beach Resort earlier this year. Exciting games and abandoned dancing, felicitations to senior staff and sumptuous food, all contributed to a fun filled day. The event was organized by Mr. Newton Michael (Mike) whose son, Martin especially came down from Bangalore to assist in making the event a grand success.

Thanks to Mike and his team of dutiful dolls and dudes, this was one of our best picnics ever!

The Finance team at Jeena Bangalore also had a rocking time at their picnic at Hognekal, a waterfall which means ‘Smoking Rock’ in the local language and is also referred to as the Niagara of India.

He is the only agent I use in India and I will continue to do so. Mr. Kumar is a credit to Cochin and to Jeena as a company. Please pass on my gratitude to Mr. Kumar.
