Voice of Management

It has been one year since the new Government has taken over and has been building diplomatic relations with neighboring countries and also other important world economies. The platform has been created for business with the Prime Minister's thrust on "Make in India". We are confident that with this climate created. India will integrate well with the world economy and we will see progress in logistic sector too.

I am glad to announce that in the year 2014-15 Jeena met its budget and we are hopeful to maintain the same momentum this year, We are heavily entrenched in the retail sector which is going through turbulent times and therefore extremely squeezed on margins which have been the lowest ever. We hope this sector will recover strongly, enabling us to post better results. Diversification is already the mantra into Pharmaceuticals, Automobile sector and Engineering goods. Good strides have been made in obtaining public sector business in the field of research and laboratory testing equipment.

The company has successfully completed the service excellence program and re-branding which has been well received by our esteemed customers, Jeena & Co. is all set for the new financial year.

Wishing all the best to our customers, partners and colleagues.

Regards,
Cyrus Katgara
Partner

Dear Cyrus san,
Long time no see! I trust you and Farida are doing well in good health. Thank you very much for Jeena News. I enjoyed reading it every time and learned about your company changing in delivering "Service Excellence". As mentioned before, I truly believe that business such as freight forwarding and/or contract business is defined it as "people's business". People oriented business, what we call. I am proud of yourself and Katgara families who has been carried over its attitude or notion upto present since the forefathers. Wishing Cyrus san, Sam san, Jehangir san, all the best.
Regards. Kuniomi

Dear Homi and Sam and Cyrus.
I have decided to take retirement at the end of this month. I had passed 65 earlier this year and thought that I would work on until I felt like retiring, and that time has now come. The past 35 years at Aliport have always been challenging and demanding, keeping pace with the growth and development of the Group, and in particular the development of the Overseas JVs, but it has always been fun, and the overall success of the Aliport Group made it most fulfilling and worthwhile.

I always much enjoyed working with Jeena and thank you for your excellent hospitality and your friendship, and hope that I added some value along the way. Yours is a unique company with so many long service employees, which is a tribute to the quality and style of the management. I wish you and your families, and all at Deena, the best of health and happiness in the future, and good trading. I have fond memories of Polly and my trip to Mumbai, meeting the people at Jeena, and particularly meeting the extended Katgara family at your daughter's Navjote.
Very best personal regards.
Alan Corker.

Memories
A touching tribute to Late Mr. Adi Katgara, from his grand-daughter Vera on his 11th death anniversary....

If I had a star for every reason why I love my grandfather, I would have the whole night sky.

11 years ago, on this day, I experienced heartbreak for the very first time. I will never forget my mother's voice on the phone, telling me of my grandfather's sudden passing, I will never forget that crumbling feeling as I drove home, the disbelief or the anger at not getting to see him before he died. I will never forget my mother's face as I walked in through the door or the number of people that came to his funeral. He might've been the most respected man in the travel industry. But to me, he was my Adi Papa - the best grandfather any grandchild could ask for. I'm sure the rest of the 7 will agree.
As a child, I spent countless hours after school at his office. I would sit at his desk and pretend to be him. We chatted about everything and nothing in particular as we shared his precious emergency stash of wafers, which he hid in a cabinet under his desk.

Our Sunday drives were legendary. I'd sit on his lap and steer his shiny white Mercedes down Marine Drive. We'd stop for the customary coconut water, pick up fruits and then head to B-wafers on the way to Sunday family lunch at Katgara House. The menu always featured cricket, conversation, curry chaval and chopsticks on the piano. He taught himself 4' how to play 'somewhere over the rainbow', so he could hear me sing it, And I learnt the words to 'O sole mio' for him because it was his favourite. We even competed over the Devil's March and the Blue Moon duet. Those really were the days.

Now, I cannot bring myself to touch a piano again. I missed him at my wedding. I know he would've been overjoyed. I missed him when Zahaan was born. I know he would've been the world's proudest great-grandparent.

11 years later, I still miss him and will continue to do so, Because neither the memories he left me with nor the love that I have for him will ever fade.
